NOTTINGHAMSHIRE’S top cop, Chief Constable Julia Hodson, has announced plans to retire from her high-pressure job next year.
Ms Hodson arrived in the county in 2008. Crime has continued to plummet under her watch, with particular success in tackling gun crime.
She has been a police officer for 29 years but says she has several ambitions to fulfil before she calls time on her career.
Her successor is expected to be announced by the force in December.
