Torvill and Dean’s Bolero steals the show at Nottingham’s CapitalFM Arena

It was a home-coming party for the pair as they performed as part of the Dancing On Ice Tour that ended in perfection to a full house of appreciative fans.

It was a special moment to witness the world’s best in a routine that has become as synonymous with ice-skating as Posh and Becks are to the celebrity scene.

You could have heard a pin drop as everyone watched in wonder as, three decades on from winning the Gold medal in Sarajevo, the couple proved why they are still, and always will be, ice champions.

It was a fabulous ending to what was surprisingly a spectacular show. I must admit to not being a dedicated Dancing On Ice fan having only sporadically seen it on TV over the past nine years but I was mesmerised by the talent, and entertainment offered.

It was an impressive all-star line-up which consisted of Suzanne Shaw from Hear’say fame, former England rugby captain Kyran Bracken, Bonnie Langford, Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle, comedian Joe Pasquale, Pop Idol singer Gareth Gates,

soap star Hayley Tamaddon and West End star and champion of champions, Ray Quinn.

The show was packed full of various routines from full cast displays to individual dance routines that were part of the night’s competition with favourite routines from past series.

Pyrotechnics, music and flames brought heat to the ice as the skating stars and their professional partners cut some shapes, balanced strategically and took risks that made us gasp with admiration and fear as the ‘headbanger’ amongst others were displayed.

The judges for the night were Olympic gold medal winner Robin Cousins who headed the panel, alongside former professional skaters Karen Barber and Nicky Slater with all three joining the team on the ice in sections of the show.

Despite a fantastic show of superiority of skills both in his dancing and ice-skating, when compared to the other celebrities, from Ray Quinn, even his presence and perfectly protruding posterior couldn’t outshine the real stars of the show.

The audience had come to see Jayne and Chris in action and without them Dancing On Ice wouldn’t have been the success it was. And I for one hope they continue to dance together beyond the show as apart they would be like Ant without Dec, Morecombe without Wise and Ginger without Fred.
