Tourism group’s tour success thanks to corporate sponsors Heatwell

Hucknall Tourism and Regeneration Group (HTRG) ran their first ever corporate sponsored bus tour recently as part of a summer series of trips across the district.

The sponsors were Heatwell Plumbing and Heating Supplies, based at Croft Avenue in Hucknall, and it represents a successful partnership between the voluntary and commercial sector.

“We want to thank them very much for their valued support,” said Ken Robinson, chairman of HTRG. “This is our first venture into corporate sponsored tours; the tours are free to the public but Heatwell kindly paid for the hire of the bus.”

“This has proved a successful venture and we hope to do more sponsored tours next year and have two more sponsored tours arranged for this season.

The tour left Hucknall Market Place at 10am and went straight to Rolls-Royce’s Heritage Museum at the factory on Watnall Road, Hucknall, where the group were treated to an hour’s escorted talk by the volunteers.

“At the end of the tour, we had difficulty getting everyone back on the bus because there was so much interest shown,” added Ken.

From there the bus then travelled to Newstead Abbey where they had a refreshment break for half an hour.

“The group then travelled back through Linby where stopped and had a talk about St Michael’s Church, given by Revd Keith Turner.

“The party were then invited to look around the church and graveyard.

“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their visit, arriving back in Hucknall Market Place at almost 1.15pm.”
