Shoppers turned out in force in Mansfield and Ashfield for the post-Christmas sales, the latest figures have revealed.
More than 32,000 people passed through the Four Seasons shopping centre on Boxing Day - an increase of 8.8 per cent on last year, while footfall between Christmas and New Year was 14 per cent higher than the previous year.
However, at the Idlewells Shopping Centre in Sutton, the figures are even more impressive, with footfall up by 20 per cent on Boxing Day, and by 46 per cent on Sunday, December 27.
Centre manager Chloe O’Donnell said: “We are incredibly pleased at how retailers have reported trade not only for the after Christmas sales but December in general.
“Footfall throughout the month increased by 2 per cent against December in 2014.
Four Seasons manager Rebekah O’Neill said: “Whilst Boxing Day is a big day for us, our busiest day in 2015 was Saturday, December 19, closely followed by December 23.
“Also over 40,000 customers left their shopping until Christmas Eve which was significantly higher than previous years.
“Overall, 2015 has been a fantastic year for Four Seasons topped off with a strong Christmas period.
“We are delighted that our customers continue to strongly support their local shopping centre and town.”
“We look forward to celebrating our 40th year in 2016 and an exciting year ahead.”
