The Blue service is one of a number the company is increasing the frequency of again, from Sunday March 7, to ensure it is ready when more and more of its customers need to travel as lockdown restrictions are eased.

More buses will also allow customers to adequately social distance on board and protect themselves and their community.

Jeff Counsell, managing director, said: “Boosting our service levels back up will help our customers and our communities begin to return to a more normal life, whether that’s travelling for education, work or – in the near future – for shopping and leisure.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to all our customers for their support and understanding during the past 12 months.

"And I’d like to reassure them that when they do need to catch a bus, they can do so confident that our buses are Covid-secure.

“We will continue our enhanced cleaning regimes overnight and during each day, and ask our customers to continue playing their part by following our advice around travelling safely.

Thanks too go to our wonderful drivers and our teams that support them.”
