Weekend closure postponed on Watnall Road in Hucknall

Watnall Road in Hucknall will now remain open this weekend

The reason for the postponement is to avoid traffic chaos for people attending the new Hucknall Covid vaccination site at Rolls Royce Leisure, which has more than 1,000 vaccine appointments this weekend.

Posting on the What’s Happening in Hucknall and Surrounding Areas Facebook page, Coun Phil Rostance (Con) who represents Hucknall West on Ashfield District Council, said: “The planned closure of Watnall Road this weekend (March 27) has again been postponed.

"I was contacted by the pharmacy who are running the new vaccination centre at the Rolls Royce Leisure facility.

"They advised there are over 1,100 appointments booked in over the course of the weekend and this diversion would have caused absolute mayhem.

After liaising with the team at Nottinghamshire County Council and Via, I am pleased to report that we were able to postpone the works until the weekend of April 10.”
