The tree planting was a memorable moment as it brought together some of the Council’s past chairmen alongside the current chairman, Coun Elizabeth Mays and civic guests from across the County.

Coun Mays said: “It was an honour to be part of this special day and to give thought to the millions of lives, both military and civilian, who were lost in the war.

“It was also wonderful to see so many past chairmen come back to the Council and be part of the day.”
