And the kind-hearted motorists will be arriving in the French capital in style - behind the wheels of Robin Reliants.

Shane, of Nottingham Road’s Rushley pub will be driving a car painted in the style of Trotter’s independent Traders in popular TV comedy Only Fools and Horses, while the opposing team’s Reliant will be decorated like the Batmobile.

Said Shane: “I am really excited - it is something different to raise awareness for the hospice and some cash.

“We raised £200 at Christmas and I thought ‘it is not enough,’ we needed to do something a bit outrageous.

“I used to be a pilot and have flown into Paris several times but this time will be arriving in style.”

Shane and friends set off on their 1,030-mile round trip on 21st April and aim to complete the journey to Paris and back in just two days.
