UPDATED WITH VIDEO: Families rescued from Stapleford shop blaze

Nine people were rescued from a two storey building fire in Stapleford.

Fire crews from across Nottinghamshire were called to the shop and flats, in Derby Road, Stapleford, which was severely damaged by fire at 10.45pm last night (Saturday, January 23).

Two adults and one child managed to escape before fire crews arrived and three adults and three children had to be led to safety.

One man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The ground floor of the building was damaged as well as a car.

Crews used two main jets, two hose reel jets and one breathing apparatus to put out the blaze.
