OVER-the-moon Val Wright was crowned ‘winemaker of the year’ at the latest meeting of HUCKNALL WINE CIRCLE.
Val scooped the title for gaining the most points in circle competitions throughout the year.
The’Miner’s Lamp Trophy’ went to Alan Fisher for gaining the most points among members at wine circle festivals in the East Midlands during the year.
A sweet aperitif wine competition was held at the meeting and this was won by Len Cantrill with Ida Thorley the runner-up.
The evening was concluded by a short quiz run by Harry Bown and then final plans were made for the circle’s annual Christmas party, which was held earlier this week at the Royal British Legion club on Beardall Street in Hucknall.
The next circle meeting is next Monday (December 17), which will be a Christmas fuddle night at National Church Of England Academy on Annesley Road.
The circle will also be staging a New Year’s Eve celebration party at Leen Mills Primary School in Hucknall.
