While a police car, with a loud hailer, was also in operation driving through the estate with a recorded message urging anyone with any information to get in touch.

Chief Inspector Paul Winter has appealed directly to Ciaran to come home and to anyone who may be hiding the teenager to contact police immediately.

He said: “Ciaran, if you are watching this we need to know you are safe and well. As far as we are concerned you are not in trouble.

“If you do not want to go home go to a police station. If you see a police officer or a PCSO just go and speak to them and we will get you back to safety.”

He Added; “We will not stop until we find Ciaran. It is now more than two weeks since he went missing and we believe that someone must know something about his whereabouts.

“If you are offering Ciaran shelter, food and water you might think you are helping him but we need you to get in touch with us urgently.

“Our priority is to make sure Ciaran is safe.”

Today officers returned to Ciaran’s school, Samworth Church Academy, Mansfield, in the hope that pupils might share any information which could help in the search.

The force has also stationed a mobile police unit at Tesco, which will be manned from 8am to 10pm.

Police hope that people will approach officers staffing the unit to share any information or thoughts that they have about where Ciaran may be.

On the day he went missing Ciaran was seen running across Oaktree Heath Nature Reserve, near the family home on the estate after an argument with his mother, Rheane O’Neil.

She said in a statement: “All we want to know is that Ciaran is safe and well. It has been almost two weeks since he went missing and the whole family is so worried.

“He ran out of the house wearing his slippers, which he kicked off, so he has not even got any shoes on.
