The video shows a care worker on Bassetlaw Hospital’s B1 Ward “imitating” the elderly patient by shuffling and falling into a wall.

The care worker filming is heard encouraging her to mock him, saying: “Go on, do John!”. They then burst out laughing as she slumps to the floor.

The cruel video was posted to Facebook and later deleted- but not before a “gutted” family member, who does not wish to be named, got hold of it.

She said: “The thought of them making fun out of him is devastating. It’s wrong on so many levels.”

The two care workers involved, who work for the Nottinghamshire Health Care NHS Foundation Trust, have since been suspended and an investigation has been launched.

A spokesman for the Trust said: “Nottinghamshire Healthcare takes allegations against staff extremely seriously. The safety of patients and service users is our priority.

“We can confirm that the staff members involved in this incident have been suspended from the Trust while an investigation is carried out.

“We will not comment further due to patient confidentiality and while the investigation is ongoing.”
