Donna Overton, 30, says her car was left severely damaged after the incident at the junction of St Peter’s Way and Ratcliffe Gate at around 5.55pm on Sunday, January 31.

She and a passenger escaped serious injury in the crash - although she was taken to hospital for treatment to her ankles, hip and neck.

Donna said the smash happened just seconds after she stopped to let an ambulance answering a 999 call get past.

She said: “I was turning right to go onto Ratcliffe Gate and a car came straight towards me and crashed into the drivers side.

“The driver then reversed and drove off so fast that we couldn’t even see the number plate.”

Cars all around the junction then began to beep to alert somebody to what had happened - and a nearby police officer heard them and came to help.

Donna added: “I was so shocked that I just sat in the middle of the road crying.

“I still close my eyes and think it was a nightmare.”

Donna and the passenger were both taken to hospital, but did not have serious injuries.

Her blue Corsa has been written off as a result of the accident.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police has confirmed the force is investigating the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help identify the car.
