VIDEO: New owner takes the helm at Hucknall nursery

A Hucknall nursery has a new owner who promises a bright future for the town facility.

The Nottingham Montessori Day Nursery, based at The Connery, went into liquidation but was swiftly taken under the wing of a Mickleover nursery owner with bags of experience in the sector.

“I got the call on Wednesday to say the nursery was closing on Friday asking me if I wanted to take it over,” said new owner, Jacqui Mason of The Orange Tree Day Nursery. “I am looking forward to develop the nursery and invest time and energy into the business.

“There is a highly skilled team here who are passionate about maximising the potential and meeting the needs of the children first hand.

“I am very hands-on and as well as developing the staff through training I will be developing the partnership with parents and the community,” added Jacqui, who has 25 years experience in childcare.

Jacqui will be starting a refurbishment programme at the site, which can accommodate 42 children from 0-5. She also plans to start a holiday club from February as well as an out-of-school club with a pick-up facility.

“My learning ethos is based on giving children lots of opportunities and experience whilst challenging them,” explained Jacqui.

“I want to give the best quality care whilst being aware that children are all individuals with different needs.”

The nursery will be renamed The Orange Tree Day Nursery and will be open Monday to Friday from 7.30am-6pm.
