16-year-old Joe Canon died on Friday (31 July) after being in hospital for two days following a collision between his off-road motorcycle and a van.

Joe, whose nickname was ‘Cheek’, suffered with serious head injuries after his Honda Trial bike hit a Ford Transit van at the junction between Shaw Crescent and Robin Hood Drive on Wednesday (29 July).

Flowers, pictures and candles are amongst some of the tributes that have been left by the side of the road where the accident happened.

Friends and family have also left letters for Joe and his family.

One message, signed from ‘Ashdon’ said: “Never did I think that I would be writing this but you are now gone, but not forgotten.

“Fly high my little angel.”

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said that detectives from the East Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit are continuing their work to try and understand what happened in the accident.
