The scheme is all set to be launched this month and is promoted through the team’s website, through participating outlets and by a special stand on last Thursday’s Flea Market.

Retailers in Hucknall will support the scheme and reward local shoppers by offering discounts and/or offers in their store,” said Stuart Pocklington of I Love Hucknall.

All of the discounts will be displayed on the team’s website so people will be kept up-to-date with the offers which will be added to as more businesses join the initiative.

Stuart added: “Initially we will be handing out 250 free loyalty cards.”

The idea has come from the town team meeting up regularly and coming up with ideas to increase footfall and boost trade in the town.

The group organised a survey asking an assortment of questions to Hucknall residents. They ranged from what people would like to see more of on the market, what type of shops they would like to see, the reasons for visiting the town and car parking.

One of the questions related to the introduction of a loyalty card and got a positive response with 75 per cent of people saying they would like and use one.

“We would like to appeal to more retailers and businesses across the town centre and beyond to join the scheme to benefit more shoppers and traders,” added Stuart.
