The Rotary Club of Warsop, Shirebrook and District have been busy in recent weeks - and have plenty more events for the diary coming up.
It held its 44th Charter at the Hostess Restaurant at Sookholme on Monday 7th April 2014, where president Andy Perry welcomed almost 100 people, who were entertained by comedian Ben Tracey.
Pictured are club secretary Cliff Elliott, Sutton president John Bates, Kirkby president John McEwan, Bolsover president Pam Cox, District 1220 president Peter Moralee, club president Andy Perry, Mansfield president John Whiteley, club junior vice-president Ted Smith and club president-elect John Welsh.
It followed the club meeting on Thursday 3 April where 23 members attended where guest speaker was Irene Miller.
She gave a presentation on life in the 40s and showed footage of Boughton Camp, near Ollerton, which was used during the war as a Prisoner of War Camp, but closed in 1946.
The footage was taken by the late Guy Reckin who was the camp sergeant and also a very keen amateur photographer.
Next up for the Warsop, Shirebrook and District Rotarians is an RAF Central Band Concert at the John Fretwell Centre on Wednesday 28th May.
The same venue will also host a Sportsmen’s Evening, where the guest speaker is ex-Premier League footballer Dean Windass. Tickets for both are available from the complex on 01623 847468.
A Senior Citizen’s Evening is planned for the Hostess Restaurant on Tuesday 13th May. Bookings will be taken closer to the event.
And on Friday 11th July, Scarcliffe Lanes Farm, Upper Langwith will host Rockin’ at the Farm with Mercury, with more details to be released nearer the date.
