Warsop residents take part in annual butterfly count
Warsop residents helped the Greenwood Community Forest Team to take part in the Big Butterfly Count as part of the Mansfield Summer Festival.
Now in its fifth year, the count provides a nationwide snapshot to allow conservationists to keep track on environmental changes as butterflies serve as an early environmental warning system.
The 15 minute count took place in a sunny spot in Carr Lane Park, Warsop and species spotted included peacocks, small whites and gatekeepers. The results were then uploaded to www.bigbutterflycount.org.
