Warsop sports student wins top modelling competition

A Warsop sports student is hanging up his rugby boots to concentrate on an international modelling career.

Jack Parr, 20 who started his journey from the scrum to the catwalk last year has scooped first prize by winning UK next Top Model 2015.

He beat a shortlist of 20 and thousands of applicants to win the high profile modelling award at the London Hilton Hotel at the weekend.

Former Meden School pupil Jack, who also won the Mr Photographic award at the event, said: “I was amazed when I won - it didn’t really hit me for a few days.”

He said it had been an exhausting eight month process combining his studies with travelling to London and rehearsing for the catwalk.

The award could open huge opportunities and doors for Jack.

He is currently planning with an agent in LA to travel abroad for the summer.

He said: “I have exciting things lined up for the rest of this year,

“Now I have a contract with a modelling agency there are opportunities for me in the US and in Milan, Italy so we’ll see what happens.”

Jack, originally from Norton Village, Warsop is studying Sports and Exercise Science at Leeds University.

He used to play as scrum half for Mansfield Rugby Club, but the sport takes a second place to his new career these days.

And it is equally competitive in the world of modellng.

Now his good looks are in demand around the globe for modelling clothes, shoes and even watches.

He said: “It started off when I got to Leeds and entered a pageant for Mr British Empire and won it.

“That really sparked things off, with people wanting to do photo shoots .

I got really hungry for it.”

Since then he has been busy shooting short films in the modelling, sport and exercise scene.

Jack hopes to become a full time model and his long term ambition is to become an actor.
