Weather alert: Surface water flooding warning for Nottinghamshire

Nottinghamshire residents are being warned of possible localised surface water flooding issues as heavy rain is forecast from the early hours of Saturday morning (19th July) through to Sunday evening.

Scattered, heavy showers are expected with the risk of some thundery downpours. It is unclear the exact locations that they will affect.

Nottinghamshire County Council is advising residents to check the Met Office weather forecast frequently and listen to the local radio for traffic disruption information.

Householders at risk of flooding are encouraged to put flood protection measures in place to protect their property. House holders who wish to use sandbags to help protect their property should purchase them in advance from local DIY stores and builders merchants.

Drivers are warned to think before they drive through flood water, not only because of the risk of getting stuck but also because they could inadvertently be causing flooding to nearby properties.

The County Council is on stand-by and will be working with the emergency services and other organisations within the county to respond to flood emergencies and support local communities that may be affected by the rainfall.
