Westfield Folkhouse produces a 75th panto to remember . . . oh yes it does!

And what a treat Westfield Folkhouse served up for a packed Mansfield Palace Theatre with its unique adaptation of Dick Whittington.

The Folkhouse is celebrating its 75th production this year - and there surely couldn’t have been many in its distinguished history better than its latest offering.

Packed with cracking comedy sketches, sparkling song and dance numbers and sets which have graced professional productions, Dick Whittington well and truly lights up the Palace stage.

In this magical tale, Dick’s journey to a happy ending comes via a ship wreck and being marooned on an island in the middle of nowhere.

It’s always unfair to single out individuals, but director Brandon Stafford (Sailor Sam) and Dave Gell (Bosun Bob) were a brilliant and hilarious double act with a superb chemistry - a winning formula which had the audience ‘in stitches’ throughout. Jono Wilson was equally as good as the formidable King Rat.

The set too was simply superb.

All in all it was a production which was slick and polished and would not look out of place in the professional arena.

The cast and everyone associated with the Westfield Folkhouse should be truly proud of themselves on providing the audience with a traditional laugh-a-minute panto!

So, if you want to banish the winter blues and fancy some belated festive frolics, then pop along to the Palace this week - you won’t be disappointed!

The pantomime runs until Saturday. Evening performances start at 7.15pm with a matinee performance on Saturday at 2.30pm.
