Woman dies after hit-and-run

The woman who suffered critical injuries in a hit-and-run collision at the weekend in Mansfield has died, police revealed this evening (Monday 4th Augues).

Identified locally as Sarah Redfern (31) from the Mansfield Woodhouse area, the woman was taken to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre following the incident at around 4.30am on Saturday.

The collision occurred in Haddon Road, at it’s junction with the A60 Woodhouse Road, Mansfield, a Nottinghamshire Police spokesman told Chad.

A 28-year-old man was also hurt in the incident and was treated at King’s Mill Hospital for minor injuries.

A yellow Citroen D3 is reported to have been involved in a collision and subsequently left the scene, police said.

On Saturday, police said Sarah was in a ‘serious but stable’ condition, before revealing that she was now ‘critical’ earlier today.

Throughout the day, well-wishers have posted messages on Chad’s Facebook page.

Following news of Sarah’s death, Carmen Louise posted: “Rip Sarah waste of a young life.”

Kate Whitby added: “So very sorry to read this RIP Sarah xxx”

Following the collision, a 27-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

They have now been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.
