Siobhan Siddall, 37, of Chapel Street, Kirkby, pleaded guilty to stealing two cans of Stella from B&M Bargains at the Idlewells Shopping Centre in Sutton, a court heard yesterday (October 29).

Mansfield magistrates heard how Siddall had taken the cans, worth a total of £2, from a four-pack of lager in the store on October 8.

Lee Shepherd, prosecuting, said: “A security guard saw Siddall enter the store, take two cans of lager and put them in her bag before walking out of the shop.”

The court then heard how the cans were confiscated and are believed to have still been in a sellable condition.

Amy Godson, defending, said Siddall accepts what she has done is wrong.

Miss Godson said: “She did not go in intending to steal but saw the opportunity and committed the offence.”

Siddall was given a total of £190 to pay in court costs and charges.
