THE Hucknall-based Let’s Dance Studio is breaking fresh ground with their tasty new show this weekend.

Members will present ‘Wonka Wonderland’ at Mansfield Palace Theatre on Saturday evening (June 23) and then a matinee performance on Sunday (June 24).

Simone Witherden, who runs Let’s Dance, says the production is the studio’s rendition of the famous Roald Dahl story, ‘Charlie And The Chocolate Factory’. about the adventures of Charlie, who finds a golden ticket that affords him entry into the secretive factory of eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka.

“This show has given our students the opportunity to put their acting talents into practice,” said Simone.

“I have had the privilege of working with a superb team of teachers who have all worked extremely hard with their students.

“Our aim, as always, is to bring the best out in everyone — to get all our students to believe in themselves and pass on our passion for dance and perform.

”We have aligned ourselves with the When You Wish Upon A Star charity — an amazing organisation that helps to grant the wishes of terminally-ill children — and we are raising funds for this very worthy cause.

“I am extremely proud of everyone involved in this special production. A big thankyou goes out to all parents and grandparents of the studio. Your support and help has been fantastic.”

The show characters include Olivia Diggle as Mr Wonka, Olivia Johnson as Charlie, Isabella Widdowson as grandad, Jessica Thompson as a newsreader, Izzy Johnson as Candee (Augustus), Jade Tilford as Bratney (Veruca), Esme Patterson as Violet, George Blatherwick as Olly (Mike TV) and Ashleigh Meredith as Violet Bubble.

There are also seven Oompa Loompas — Mhairi McVicar, Grace Conidi, Jamie Parrott, Izzy Gretton, Harriet Diggle, Francesca Peberday and Ellie Jackson — as well as sugar-plum fairies and special mystery guests.
