Work gets approved but donations needed

A Ravenshead church has received the go-ahead from planners to replace its church hall but needs help from the public to fund the project.

The project manager for the hall says £275,000 is still needed to pay for the £500,000 build.

St Peter’s Church Hall was purchased from the Ministry of Works in 1948 and only meant as a temporary structure.

Peter Craddock, the project manager for the new church hall, said the building was rapidly deteriorating and its structure would only be safe for another three-five years.

“We are over the moon that we have got the permission because that is the first step,” said Mr Craddock.

“And although the hall is in the grounds of St Peters’ 90 per cent of the people in Ravenshead use it as a community space - so it will be available as a place for community groups.”

In order to raise the rest of the cash needed fundraisers are offering the pubic the opportunity to buy a brick engraved with their details for £10.

To donate please email [email protected] or phone 0300 0302910.

Donators should include details of what they would like engraved to a maximum of five words and names and addresses so that fundraisers can claim gift aid. Cheques should be made out to St Peters’ PCC building fund and sent to St Peters’ Project, 15 Cheriton Drive, Ravenshead.
