Dates gone West?

IT was interesting to read in last week’s Dispatch the Letter from Mavis Ellis about the trip to Liverpool, organised by former Hucknall National School teacher Kenneth West in April 1952 (‘School-trip To Docks On Anniversary Of Titanic Tragedy’).

Mrs Ellis says that Mr West served with the Fleet Air Arm from 1939 to 1940 at the beginning of the Second World War.

But I would like to point out that Ken would have been only 13 years old in 1939.

Sorry to correct you, Mavis.
