Disgusted by the closure of dementia service

I AM writing to let everyone know that the working-age dementia service at the New Outlook initiative in Ashfield is to close in June.

This service has helped so many people with working-age dementia and their carers and families for more years than I care to remember.

It helped my late wife and I to cope with dementia, so it is with disgust that I found out it is to close on purely finance grounds.

The government and the councils say frontline services are not to be hit in any way.

Well, I have news for you all. To the people with dementia and their carers and families, this is a frontline service, and for the people of Ashfield, it is the only one.

At this time, there are only two in Nottinghamshire.

The last time I was told the figures, there where more than 400 people in Notts with working-age dementia, so it is clear we need more, not less, of these types of service.

So, to all out there, please pass this on to help me stop this. It is wrong.

Do it now before this service is lost.
