SOME 50 years ago, I purchased a book from a second-hand book-stall on Hucknall Market for the princely sum of sixpence.
The book is a 360-page miscellany of Byron poems and volume two of two volumes published by John Murray, of Albermarle Street, London, in 1853, some 29 years after the poet’s death.
Some of the poems are first publications, and the book contains many of his well-known works. Although not a Byron fan, I have enjoyed many of the poems, some of which are very humorous.
Not now being familiar with the Byron enthusiasts in Hucknall, and in view of the forthcoming Byron Festival, I wonder if someone from Newstead Abbey Byron Society, who might appreciate the book, which is in good condition, could contact me. I would be pleased to present the book to them.
