Give us speedwatch before there is a serious accident

MY HUSBAND and I read with interest the article in last week’s Dispatch entitled ‘Speedwatch Has Dangerous Drivers in sight’.

We think that the scheme would be ideal if it were to be introduced here in Hucknall.

We live in the bungalows at the corner of Yew Tree Road and Broomhill Road and the speed at which the drivers go up and down Broomhill Road is very frightening.

Only recently, a driver came down Broomhill so fast that he missed the turning on to Yew Tree Road and crashed straight into the fencing surrounding the bungalows.

At first we thought he had collided with the side of our bungalow, i.e. the bedroom. Also, the bungalows are a complex for the elderly and disabled, so we are very vulnerable when we cross the road to go to the shops. I use a walking stick and a couple of residents have mobility scooters. Some drivers would rather swerve around us than slow down. This has happened to me on numerous occasions.

We think that before too long there is going to be a serious accident. We have mentioned all of this to the police in the past, but nothing has come of it.
