Helping hedgehogs and other wildlife through the winter

MY name is Wendy Radford and I run the Cedar Wildlife Sanctuary in Kirkby-in-Ashfield with my partner Phil.

I would like to say a big thankyou to all at Buckley House veterinary practice in Hucknall and to everyone who leaves donations of food and money in our collection basket/penny box.

At the moment, we are over-wintering 51 hedgehogs which consume approximately 115 tins of food per week. The hogs are too small to hibernate, so they need to stay awake and be cared for over winter.

We are getting lots of donations from Buckley House, which is a great help. I would also like to say thankyou to the vets, vet nurses and staff for their kindness to the animals that we take there.

Also, to raise money, I run weekly classes in making greetings cards and also art classes at the Titchfield Court complex on Orchard Street, Hucknall.

All classes are aimed at beginners or the more advanced, so they suit all abilities. All materials are supplied, plus tea/coffee and biscuits.

Anyone wishing to attend or even to call in for a peek is very welcome.

The card craft classes are on Monday mornings and the art classes on Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons.

They cost only £3 for each two-hour session.
