Is NHS moving towards privatisation?

I AM deeply concerned that the greatest British asset we have is moving stealth-like towards privatisation.

We have all witnessed the outcome of other great assets once sold to private enterprises — the cost to customers continues to increase, the profits continue to soar and in real terms, there is very little true reinvestment.

We only have to look at flooding in this country to know that not enough is being done to safeguard people in their homes when rivers burst their banks. I shudder to think what the outcome will be if our NHS is broken up to keep the greedy, fat cats happy.

In a civilized society, healthcare should not be governed by market forces, it should be a guaranteed right for every single human being on earth.

It is comforting to note that there is a large 38 Degrees petition showing that many people like me want to protect this fabulous institution. It belongs to each of us, not government, and therefore, in my opinion, is not theirs to sell.

I hope the CCG’s will listen to the voices of others like me and act accordingly.
