Offenders should be named and shamed

ON two separate occasions, I was driving by the Washdyke Lane recreation ground in Hucknall at about 9.30 am and saw an older man with a dog which looked like an Old English Sheepdog.

This dog was defecating, and the man carried on walking, completely ignoring the dog and making no attempt to clear up after it.

If I had had a camera with me, I would have taken a photo.

There can’t be too many of this breed of dog being walked on the rec.

Maybe if people could describe dogs and owners in the Dispatch, and the time of day when seen fouling the rec, or better still take photos, offenders could be identified, shamed into cleaning up after their pets and possibly prosecuted.

I guess people may be more inclined to report offences if they can have anonymity.
