Close shave, but Mohawks pip the Arrows

The Killamarsh Derbyshire Linbraze Arrows once again found themselves on the wrong end of a narrow scoreline for the third consecutive game last weekend, this time going down 106-102 to the Tees Valley Mohawks.

Aaron Moseley scored 39 points for the Arrows, but he was trumped by Tees Valley’s American import Carson Jones, who managed 55.

Moseley was well supported by Joseph Baugh, with 21, and Denis Scott, with 18, but the Arrows once again could not limit a side in the final quarter to register a much needed win.

Coach Jonny Kelly said: “I am extremely frustrated.

“We are right there but are just lacking the bounce of the ball in those vital moments.

“We have the talent but just need to fight that little bit harder to make things go our way.”

The Arrows were in contention throughout. However, they fell 14 behind in the third quarter only to fight their way back into the contest.

This defeat means they are now 5-5 with this Saturday’s game at Queens Park 6.30pm the last before the break.

Arrows’ U14’s underlined their undoubted potential with a comprehensive victory over Leeds Force by 104-25.

The Arrows hit top form from the start with an array of scorers. Top prospect Lloydie Askwith scored four points despite being only nine-years-old.

Matt Oakey’s U16’s were edged out by a single point in the last two minutes against a Harrogate St Aidan’s Spartans team who beat them convincingly earlier in the season.

The Arrows lost for the first time on the road this season by 64-63.
