Glapwell fall short against Eckington

In the Mansfield & District League Premier Section, Glapwell (109-6) had a losing draw with Eckington (232-9) with L. Musslewhite scoring an unbeaten 106 for Eckington and M. Page taking 4-58 with the ball for Glapwell.

Mansfield (207-7) found Sheffield Collegiate (219-3) a bit too good as Mansfield only managed a losing draw. Top scorer for the Sheffield side was S. Webber with 133 not out.

Nine-men Edwinstowe (163-8) proved too good for Hucknall (138) by beating them by 25 runs. Justin Pretorious was the pick of the players scoring 44 and taking 4-24 for Edwinstowe.

Leaders Anston (166) had a bad day at Farnsfield (216-4) losing by 50 runs.

Welbeck (179-5) kept up their bid for Division One honours in the Mansfield & District League, this week beating Kirkby Portland (178) by five wickets, S. O’Neil taking 4-46 for Welbeck

Grassmoor (209-6) beat bottom club Underwood (140) by 69 runs, this puts Grassmoor at the top, Adam Bedford’s 87 not out and J. Coupe (5-16) for Grassmoor doing the damage.

In Section Two, Morton (241-8) hold onto top spot despite losing to South Wingfield (242-6) with Liam Mitchell top-scoring with 102 not out.

Denby (253-8) had a convincing win over Blackwell (132), thanks to an unbeaten 116 by F. Kirk.

Killamarsh (207-5) had first use of the wicket in Section Three with opening bat Ben Williams making his 100, but in the second half Blidworth (209-3) from 26 overs were far too strong with Matthew Sisson top-scoring with 133 not out.

In the clash of the top two Whiston PC (204-8) lost out to Parkhead (205-9), Chris Turner proving man of the match with 81 with the bat and 3-46 with the ball.

In Section Four, Papplewick & Linby (366-5) inflicted a crushing defeat on South Normanton (74) by 292 runs to keep them at the head of the table. Jim Rhodes, 143 not out, supported by Joe Walker with 51, did the damage with the bat and Charlie Blatherwick took 4-20 with the ball.

Cutthorpe (186-6) found Alfreton (187-6) too strong as Alfreton won by four wickets, J. Aspinall top-scoring with 95, which put Alfreton into second in the table.

In Section Five Chesterfield (130-8) continue to struggle with no wins in eight matches, this week losing by five wickets to Ashover (132-4) by four wickets, with Roger Bolstridge taking 3-22 for Ashover.

Byron Abbey (234-7) continued with their run of victories, this week beating Anston (124) by 100 runs, Lee Christie taking 5-4 for the Abbey side.

Wednesday (125-3) took advantage of the fact Selston had the weekend in Section Six off by beating Swanwick (121-8) by seven wickets to strengthen their position in second place.

In an high-scoring match Eckington (263-3) were found to be too strong for Clay Cross (261-9), despite Callum Hiron top-scoring for Clay Cross with 117.

In Section Seven, league leaders Thoresby (190-9) lost to Edwinstowe (191-3) but still stay top, D. Taylor made 102 not out for Edwinstowe.

Belper Meadows (25-2) had an easy day by dismissing Sheffield Transport (21) with Charlie Joyce taking 4-10.
