Hucknall fall short in Cuckney clash

In the Mansfield & District League Premier Section, Hucknall fell just 13 runs short of victory as Cuckney took a winning draw.

Cuckney made 257-6 with Hucknall ending on 245-8. Five batsmen passed 50 runs, J. Wake, R. Bostock and N. Langford for Cuckney and R. Maxwell and D. Cambell for Hucknall.

Sheffield Collegiate continue to struggle as they failed to raise a team against Welbeck, who were awarded the 20 points.

In Section One, Mansfield Hosiery Mills made 107 before losing by eight wickets to Teversal. Callum Else took four wickets and scored an unbeaten 44 for Teversal, C. Hewitt was also unbeaten on 57.

Morton’s perfect start to the season continued by default in Section Two as opponents Blidworth failed to raise a team for the second time in four weeks.

An imposing total of 374-9 by Parkhead could still only earn them a winning draw against Coal Aston.

J. Parkin, with 185 not out, and J. Carrington (122) were the main scorers for Parkhead, but Aston stood firm with 166-4 in reply.

With Alex Kirkham making 61 and Arron Brookes 50 not out, Shireoaks reached 161-5 in Section Three before bowling out visiting Welbeck for 121.

In Section Four Hollisend were all out for just 78, E. Lynham and C. Green both sharing three wickets each for South Normanton before they coasted to a seven wicket win.

In Section Five Shirebrook managed just 36 runs in reply to visitors Pheasant Hill’s 64. Saeed Jarveed scored 23 for Shirebrook and then took 6-20, backed up by Nauman Shafiq with 4-11.

Dronfield Woodhouse were in the runs with 376-8, Michael Donson scoring 178 against Sheffield Transport, Dronfield then winning by 237 runs.

Langwith (4) 66 made a fruitless Section Six trip to Clowne (20). The home side hit 121 before bowling out Langwith for 66, J. Binfield and J. Clayton taking three wickets each for Clowne.

Nomads compiled 207-2 in Section Seven against Anston Ladies, M. Lomas (87) and A. Cantrill (71) both unbeaten. But the Ladies held on for a draw with 147-4, Haley Butts hitting 56 not out.
