Lancs 109-1 (32 overs)

Lancashire enjoyed a morning of solid accumulation as their Specsavers County Championship match against Nottinghamshire got underway at Trent Bridge.

The Division One leaders survived a tricky opening hour, in which England’s Stuart Broad conceded just nine runs from eight testing overs.

Luke Procter’s arrival in the middle coincided with the end of Broad’s spell and he played positively to race to 45 not out from just 58 deliveries. With Tom Smith, 40 not out, batting throughout the session, the Red Rose reached lunch on 109 for one.

Brett Hutton took the sole wicket to fall, having Haseem Hameed caught for 16. The young right-hander thrust forward and unluckily saw an inside-edge fly gently off the pad and balloon towards Michael Lumb at gully.

Imran Tahir, who played one championship match for the county last year, had an inauspicious start to his return to Nottinghamshire colours, going for 13 from an opening over which included two boundaries and two no balls.
