Mansfield League hit by withdrawals

Due to ground problems at Hucknall, new club Rolls Royce have had to withdraw from the Mansfield & District Cricket League after only one week.

This now means two teams have withdrawn from Section Seven after Shirebrook withdraw their second team without playing a match due to lack of playing staff.

In the Premier Section Farnsfield obtained their first win of the season with an impressive 200-1 batting second against Edwinstowe, M. Sisson scoring 108 not out.

Aston Hall, promoted from last season, have made a strong start in Section One, a winning draw against Kirby Portland giving them 58 points from a maximum of 60.

Welbeck had an impressive win over Cuckney, inflicting a 10-wicket defeat after T. Davis took 6-25 for Welbeck.

Teversal in Section Two had a good win. After scoring 238-1 they beat Denby by 170 runs, C. Else top-scoring for Teversal with 131.

In Section Three Shireoaks were the pick of the bunch, batting first and scoring 251-6 in 40 overs.

This gave then a 213-run victory after bowling Killamarsh out for 38, best bowling coming from N. Parry with 4-4.

Highest score in Section Four went to Belper Meadows with a superb 301-5, but they only managed a winning draw in the end with South Normanton holding on for a draw on 191-7.

In Section Five Chesterfield 268-2 overwhelmed Kingsway Park (26) with a 246-winning margin, T. Badderley top-scoring for Chesterfield with 104 not out and A. Jarved taking 4-5 with the ball.

Thoresby Colliery hit the highest score of the day of 305-3 in beating locals Waleswood (197) by 108 runs.
