Notts lead Hampshire by 149 at tea at the Ageas Bowl

Hampshire bowler Gareth Berg bagged an early breakthrough but Nottinghamshire lead by 149 at tea, at the Ageas Bowl.

Berg managed to trap Steven Mullaney in front – before rolling his ankle while appealing – int he 10th over, but Brendan Taylor reached 20 by the interval, tea being taken early at 3.11pm after a short shower.

Zimbabwean Taylor found a piece of early luck as Danny Briggs put down a simple chance at midwicket – the batsman on seven at the time.

First innings centurion Alex Hales made a fluent and unbeaten 10 – getting off the mark with a beautifully timed cut shot to the boundary.

Hampshire ended their innings with a first innings deficit of 95 runs – ending on 276/

Samit Patel took his first wicket of the game with his off spin – Sean Ervine scoring 31 before edging to Mullaney at first slip.

The attacking Andre Adams was the final man to depart, also hitting 31, before being bowled by Jake Ball – who returned to the attack after recovering from a back spasm yesterday.
