Papplewick & Linby lose perfect record after defeat to Kimberley

Kimberley won the toss and chose to bat first, possibly with some regret as they found themselves 6 for 3.

Martin Weightman’s patient 38 steadied the ship somewhat, seeing them up to 86 for 5 and pairing George Bacon up with Dominic Brown.

That pair made a decisive stand worth 81, Bacon falling on 38 whilst Brown was unbeaten on 77 as the innings closed on 196 for 6, with Jim Rhodes and Pete Bhahbra each grabbing a pair of wickets.

Sam Ogrizovic (37) and Pete Bhabra (45) got the home side off to a solid start, reaching 85 for the first wicket, but with both being dismissed in quick succession the chase faded from there.

All ten wickets fell for just 64 further runs. Spinner Alex King claimed 3 for 29 while Bacon, Brown and Zain Ramzan all had two wickets.

Cuckney remain unbeaten after a six wicket win at home to Hucknall.

The visitors chose to bat first after winning the toss, but could only muster 125 all out, which having been 36 for 6 could have been worse.

David France edged the bowling honours with 3 for 11, from Lewis Bramley’s 3 for 19 and Jack Blatherwick’s 3 for 23.

Several Hucknall batters made double figures, but none could pass 21.

The Bears were made to work for the runs in the chase, needing to go to the 29th over to reach their target.

Tom Keast’s patient 42 not out featured in a 52-run stand with Will Butler, before Nick Langford hit a brisk 26 not out to keep them in touch with Kimberley.
