Russell Evans returns to speak to Bassetlaw Umpires Association

Former Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire player Russell Evans, who has just completed his first season on the first class umpires list, is the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Bassetlaw Umpires Association at Cuckney Cricket Centre on Saturday, January 9 at 2.30pm.

Evans is well known in Bassetlaw League circles, having represented Retford for several seasons and Farsley in the Bradford League where he broke some league records which had stood for a long while.

In 1993 he scored 1,376 runs and in three seasons he amassed a staggering 3,327 runs!

He umpired International Women’s cricket at both one day and international level after retiring from playing and was accepted on the first class reserve list in 2011.

He was promoted to the full list in 2015 and created a very good impression.

Several well-known players and umpires are tipping him to make the elite list in the future which looks very bright for him.

Everyone is invited to attend what should be an interesting meeting for a local fellow who through his own efforts looks to be on the track to the top.
