The home side won the toss and elected to bat first, with opener Jordan Lemon smashing a delightful 138 at the top of the innings to get Morton on their way.

Yet only three other batsmen made it into double figures; skipper Blair Matthews hitting 46, Gary Lowe 15 and number 10 Tom Nicholson a notable contribution of 17.

As well as a healthy 20 runs from the extras column, Morton closed on 261-9 from their allotted 40 overs, with Lemon the stand-out performer with a commanding innings.

Daniel Blatherwick took 3-39 from his 10 overs for Papplewick and Linby and then opened the reply for the visitors with a score of 22 with the bat.

The top order wobbled but it was the assured presence of both Tom Bowers (74) and Niall Towle (74*) which guided Papplewick and Linby towards the finish line.

Bowers went to the bowling of Piet Janse Van Rensburg (4-58 from 10 overs) but Towle remained and was there at the end to see his side to 263-6 from 36 overs, for a four-wicket win to Papplewick.
