The Green and Golds will host first Warwickshire and then Glamorgan in the Greene King IPA Welbeck Weekender at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex in two eagerly-awaited Royal London One-Day Cup 50-over matches.

The county’s director of cricket, Mick Newell, is looking forward to bringing his side up the A60 from Trent Bridge, with past and present England internationals Alex Hales, James Taylor, Samit Patel and Chris Read in the frame to play.

Lining up against Nottinghamshire could be the likes of Jonathan Trott and Jeetan Patel (for Warwickshire) and Jacques Rudolph (for Glamorgan), who have all played international limited overs and Test cricket.

“It was a pleasure to be involved in Welbeck’s England Legends game last year when the interest was fantastic, but it has gone up a notch for these matches because they are important first team games,” said Greene King’s on-trade sales director, Joe Parks.

“With the calibre of player that is going to be on show from both home and away sides, it is going to be a treat for all those who come along to support what is a big weekend for the local area.”

All monies taken by Welbeck will be invested back into the Warsop Sporting Trust, the not-for-profit organisation which runs the John Fretwell Sporting Complex.
