At Station Lane, it was the Sam Wood show as Caythorpe were dismissed for 140 with Wood totally destroying them with an amazing 9-34.

Caythorpe made a reasonable start with Oliver Clarke (37) and Matt Staszkiewicz both batting well but the introduction of Wood was to change all that.

He ripped out the first four very quickly before skipper Andrew Staszkiewicz steadied the ship somewhat with a defiant 28.

Andrew finally fell to Andrew Bell before Wood mopped up the rest to record his fantastic figures and bowl Caythorpe out for just 140.

This meagre target was reached in 27.5 overs with Matt Sisson, Andrew Bell (59 not out) and Brett Hutton (43) steering Farnsfield to victory and a valuable 20 points.

Clipstone’s win over Kiveton Park was, if anything, even more emphatic with the whole match completed at 4.25 pm.

Jason Gorman was at his brilliant best right from the very start. Nobody looked comfortable against him and even the ‘run machine’ Adam Whiteley survived a massive lbw appeal when he had scored just one.

Gorman took 5-37 as Kiveton were bundled out for just 115, and when West Indian Justin Braithwaite blasted the first two balls out of the ground, one sensed this was not going to take long. When Braithwaite was out in the fourth over for 38, which included three sixes, Lee Wilson (47) kept the momentum going and the Kiveton attack suffered some dreadful punishment.

The end came quickly with only 13.2 overs bowled, strangely enough from a leg side wide, and Clipstone are still involved in the title race in what has become one of the tightest challenges for many years.

A high-scoring match took place at Ryton Road where Anston came back to some kind of form with a seven wicket win over high-flying Notts & Arnold Amateur.

Batting first, Notts & Arnold made a useful looking 250-9 with Pratik Vyas (44), Dilhan Cooray (38) and Ben Scott (48) all scoring heavily whilst Amila Perera (5-59) again showed what a good player he is.

The wicket if anything got even better as the game wore on and there never looked much doubt that Anston were going to run out comfortable winners.

Josh Marsh (49), Kalyan Ampolu (41), John Lyne (44), Ashley Arnold (59 not out) and that man Amila Perera (40 not out) all made sizable contributions as Anston sailed to 251-3 and victory.

Killamarsh had a great chance to improve their status but blew it in spectacular fashion against bottom club Glapwell.

Only skipper Steve Ludlam (40) showed any application as Killamarsh were bundled out for just 139 with Hassan Perera (4-15) and Scott Smith (3-26) proving totally unplayable.

This score was never going to be enough as Luke Smith (58), and Danny Bircumshaw (37) eased Glapwell to an important and vital six wicket win on 142-4.

Thoresby Colliery made a healthy looking 224 all out, but it proved nowhere near enough against Papplewick & Linby.

One could not have forecast what was about to happen as Farook Aziz (66), Chris Bennett (42), Lee Willis (38) all looked serenely comfortable until the score arrived at 223-5.

It was then that Charlie Blatherwick (5-66) took over and they collapsed like a pack of cards to 224 all out.

Skipper Jim Rhodes (3-37) also weighed in during what was one of the most spectacular collapses seen this season.

Papplewick quickly showed how it should be done with Alex Lloyd (55), Kosala Kulasekekara (67 not out) and the elegant Mark Nelson (63 not out) taking them to 228-2 and a rather easy win.

A terrific game took place at Central Avenue where the home side Worksop took 18 points from a winning draw in a very close game with North Wheatley with Leverton.

Worksop were indebted to South African Bernhard Beukman (101 not out), who batted brilliantly.

Jamie Bovill (3-53) and Callum Harrison (3-76) bowled well for North Wheatley as Worksop closed on 216-8.

North Wheatley made a bold effort to gain victory and closed on 201-9.

Jon Loates (52), Matt Loates (39), Richard Robinson (32) and Callum Harrison (32) all batted well, but the ‘spin twins’ Dave Hancocks (3-71) and Bernhard Beukman (4-28) who enjoyed a fantastic all-round game proved just too much for them.
