Extra meetings for Nottingham Racecourse

Nottingham Racecourse has been selected to stage extra racing fixtures this summer, one of which includes the top class ‘Voute Sales Warwickshire Oaks’ race.

The number of meetings at Colwick Park was increased by three to 21 in 2014 – and now two more have been added while work is carried out at its sister racecourse at Warwick in coming weeks.

The additional meetings are on the evening of Monday, 16th June – featuring the Class 1 Listed Voute Sales Warwickshire Oaks – and on the afternoon of Thursday 10th July.

The first of these dates creates a two-night meeting, with there already being racing on the evening of Tuesday, 17th.

Admission at the two additional fixtures will be just £5 for adults – a reduction of £7 on the standard price.

Pip Kirkby, general manager, Nottingham Racecourse, said: “The 2014 racing season is already going really well, especially with our sell-out in the Premier Enclosure for Ladies’ Day last month, and we are delighted to step in to stage two extra fixtures which are being transferred from Warwick Racecourse.

“It is, of course, not the first time that Nottingham Racecourse has helped out other racecourses within Jockey Club Racecourses. While development work was being carried out in 2012 at Epsom Downs, Colwick Park staged the spring time Investec Derby trial race.

“We are very pleased that Warwick Racecourse’s valued supporter Voute Sales has agreed to continue to sponsor the Class 1 race on 16th June at its temporary home in the City of Nottingham.”

The £40,000 Voute Sales Warwickshire Oaks is renowned for being won by very good horses including, in 2012, The Queen’s Set To Music which had triumphed twice at Nottingham Racecourse.

The year before, the race was won by the late trainer Sir Henry Cecil’s Royal Ascot winner Timepiece.

Adult admission in June at Nottingham Racecourse: Wednesday, 4th, Thursday, 12th and Tuesday, 17th - £12; Monday, 16th - £5.

Accompanied children aged under 18 are always admitted free of charge. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 0844 579 3011 or booked online at www.nottinghamracecourse.co.uk.
