First win at Wimbledon for Hucknall teen ace Freya Christie

Hucknall teenage tennis ace Freya Christie was this week celebrating her first ever win at Wimbledon.

Freya (17) teamed up with Glaswegian Anna Brogan on Wednesday to get past the first round of the Junior Doubles, beating Viktoria Kusmova (Slovakia) and Beatrice Torelli (Italy) 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

Freya made her Junior Wimbledon debut in 2013 and this is her final year before stepping up the senior events.

In round two they will face the pairing of American Usue Maitane Arconada and Canadian Charlotte Robilliard-Millette.

Freya made a first round exit in the singles, beaten 6-2, 6-3 by Russian youngster Olesya Pervushina, who then went on to knock out China’s Shilin Xu 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in the second round before losing 6-1, 6-7, 2-6 to American Micheala Gordon in round three.
