Flying start to New Year for Sherwood Colliery
Sherwood Colliery Swimming Club put the excesses of the festive season way behind them with an emphatic win at the Free Press Relay Gala, hosted by Sutton SC.
Despite receiving a number of ‘speeding tickets’ for swimming too fast, the Sherwood relay teams dominated the event against local rivals and 2013 winners Sutton SC, Kimberley, Hucknall, Arnold and Carlton Forum.
Even though the speeding tickets meant some of the relay teams couldn’t add their wins to the overall points tally (a speeding ticket gives zero points), the team in Black & Gold still went on to record a convincing win to take the silverware back to the Rebecca Adlington Swim Centre for 2014.
