Adam Murray delighted to have Karl Hawley on Mansfield Town coaching staff

Mansfield Town manager Adam Murray expressed his delight after adding Karl Hawley to his coaching staff.

Former Carlisle United and Notts County striker Hawley has been appointed first team coach ahead of the 2016/17 season.

Hawley was brought in as a striker coach in the final months of last season, coinciding with an increase in goals for the team.

The now 34-year-old had a prolific goalscoring record in the Football League, in a professional career spanning over 15 years.

And Murray believes Hawley will further boost the winning mentality of his backroom team.

He said: “We’re very pleased to have Karl on board. He is driven and very focussed on helping Mansfield Town Football Club progress.

“He brings to the club a wealth of experience in the League, which we feel will be vitally important to move forward.

“Karl has a great background in achieving success and promotions and we feel that he will add a winning mentality to that which we already have in this group.

“He is an excellent coach, with innovative ideas and ways which we can move forward.

“He will add another dimension to our attacking play, which will be an asset to us in our ambition of progressing on last season.”

Hawley boasted a goal every other game for Carlisle, who he helped achieve two promotions, before spells at Scunthorpe United, Preston North End and Notts County, where he helped the Magpies to the League Two title in 2010.

Murray added: “Karl is someone I have known for many years now and is someone who I trust implicitly.”
