Afc Dowhan started their season in emphatic style with a 13-1 win over Stratford Haven Res.
Dowhan had a chance to open their account after only four minutes when winger Jonny Bernard was tripped in the area.
Unfortunately for Dowhan, Bernards’ step overs were better than his spot kick and he lashed the ball wide from 12 yards.
Dowhan didn’t have to wait long to take the lead and, three minutes later, and another mazy Bernard run and shot saw the ball come back off the post for striker Paul Prewett to finish from six yards out.
Left Back Thomas Coupe got the second, finishing a right footed shot at the near post to score his first of a perfect hattrick.
Nick Davies made it three with a fine near post header.
Prewett Added his second a few minutes later, before Coupe made it five with a sublime left foot chip over the advancing goalkeeper.
Stratford pulled one back after a good finish from Steven Farrell.
Daniel Bernard scored Dowhan’s sixth latching onto a throughball to round the keeper and roll the ball into a empty net and equal his tally for the whole of last season.
Midfield maestro Damian Larcombe added the 7th with another superb header before Nick Davies grabbed his second with a half volley from 14 yards that found the roof of the net for an 8-1 half-time lead.
Dowhan won a second penalty 10 minutes into the second half and this time Gavin Mee made no mistake by sending the keeper the wrong way.
Jonny Bernard finally got the goal his play deserved firing in from close range to make it 10.
Right-back Stefan Rogers made it 11, before substitute Jimmy Applegate also got in on act to make it 12.
Thomas Coupe wrapped it up with his hatt-rick goal and glancing header that found the far corner of the net.
Afc Dowhan will have to be on their game next week with a tough fixture at home to bestwood miners welfare.
