The Yellows’ reserves gave a good account of themselves during an inter-club match defeat against Town’s first team on Saturday.

And the Town chief says it further bolsters his belief in the depth of his squad.

“The sharpness of both sides was fine and they will be raring to go when we can,” he said.

“There’s some good young lads in the reserves, who are doing a good job.

“The reserves got a lot out of the game, especially in the first half. They wanted to prove a point and they did in the first half.

“They have got to be pleased with themselves. The score was not important and it was a good work out.

“In previous years it has been 7,8 or 9, but this was a different kettle of fish - they are a good bunch.

"I am hoping to arrange a friendly for the weekend, but if we can’t get one lined up we will sort out another first team v reserve team friendly.”

Graves, like the rest of the league, is now hoping for good news when the government next reviews the tier restrictions.

“We will see where we are after the 16th December, what tier we are in and if we have to play behind closed doors or not,” he added.

“There is frustration throughout all this that has been going on this year. It is frustrating that we can’t play in front of a crowd, some things don't seem to add up.

“Some areas are better than others shall we say. Football has done what it can and I don't think there's been many issues.”

Graves is also confident that Hucknall will be just fine in the long run and will not feel any adverse effects from the COVID-19 fallout.

“I would like to think we will get back soon and that we will be fine in the long term,” he added.

“We try to do things right in the way and I think we should be ok.

"Fingers crossed we can get some normality back, it's what we all want.”

If fixtures do resume on 19th December clubs can agree to switch their Boxing Day fixtures to 28th, 29th or 30th December to allow everyone to take advantage for the relaxation in the rules regarding families coming together this Christmas.
