TWO teams from the Dispatch district are still flying the flag in the Notts Sunday Morning League’s (NSML) Senior Section Cup, which reaches the Third Round (last 16) stage this weekend.
THE NABB INN had already won through, but BESTWOOD MINERS WELFARE joined them after a 2-0 win over Dovecrest.
The visitors play a division higher, but Bestwood stretched their unbeaten start to the NSML campaign thanks to goals from Nathan Robinson and Luke Mitchell.
Meanwhile The Nabb were involved in league action in Senior Division Two, where they sank to a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Bridgford Taverners.
Goals from Gavin Mellors (2) and Steve Enderby made it four matches without a loss for early-season strugglers Bridgford.
IN the Notts Sunday Combination, Bulwell side EMPIRE are the new leaders of the Premier Division after a thrilling victory over their closest rivals at the top of the table.
Empire defeated Blacks Head 3-2 to surge three points clear.
There was also good news in the top flight for MELLISH, who battered bottom-of-the-table Beechdale 8-0. But in stark contrast, near neighbours LORD NELSON were mauled 9-1 by Sycamore St Ann’s, who had won only one of their previous four league games.
In Division One, AFC ROLLS-ROYCE’S match at home to Gedling Southbank was postponed.
And in Division Three, high-flying title-chasers MELLISH RESERVES were without a match.
